Is there a GPA requirement? What if I don’t meet it?

The Texas Education Agency requires all teacher candidates to have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 or a 2.5 in the last 60 hours.  There are some exceptions for candidates that have the content expertise to teach in high need areas.  Transcripts can be tricky to evaluate.  Let our Teachworthy team evaluate your transcripts at no cost to you.

Teachworthy Requirements

You must have completed or be in the final stage of completing your bachelor’s degree with the requirements below:

  • 2.5 GPA minimum posted on official degree conferred transcript, or
  • 2.5 GPA minimum in the last 60 semester hours of course work attempted
  • Students in their final semester of obtaining a 4-year bachelor’s degree can enroll on a contingency basis
  • Graduates from outside the U.S. must complete all portions of the TOEFL iBT and submit a course-by-course evaluation to be considered for admission
