Is Teachworthy TEA Approved?

Last reviewed October 2026

Short answer: Yes. Teachworthy (formerly ACT San Antonio) has been an approved Texas educator preparation program (EPP) since 2005, and it is currently Accredited, the top of the state’s accreditation statuses. The State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) rates every program each year in the Accountability System for Educator Preparation (ASEP), and Teachworthy has been rated Accredited every year shown below. You can check this yourself on TEA’s website using the links on this page.

What “Accredited” means

Every year, the state rates each Texas EPP on how its candidates do, such as certification exam pass rates, feedback from the principals who hire them, and the quality of field supervision. Programs earn points in ASEP, and the points decide the status:

Status What it means
Accredited The program earned at least 85% of possible points
Accredited–Warned 80% to under 85% of possible points, or a rule violation
Accredited–Probation Under 80% of possible points, or a rule violation
Accredited–Not Rated A new program that doesn’t have enough data to rate yet
Not Accredited–Revoked For example, after three years in a row on Probation

Has TEA reviewed Teachworthy’s program?

How can I check this myself?

Why it matters when you choose a program

Only an approved program can recommend you for a Texas teaching certificate. When you compare programs, check each one’s status on TEA’s ASEP dashboard, not just its own website. See also 11 Things to Consider When Selecting an Alternative Teacher Certification Program.
